Production Manager Overview

Job Costing is required for Make to Order and Job Shop environments as they need to track actual time and material cost by Job. As manufacturing of this type may only make a component or finished goods only once, there may be non-stock material that is purchased for the Job and should not have to pass through Inventory. Smaller Job Shops may not be able to establish a detail routing, therefore through the reporting of Labor; the actual steps are created. Many of the Costing reports may be run while the Jobs are in production, providing the ability to determine profitable or a problem in the estimated cost.

Shop Floor will automate manufacturing production control and aide in Production Scheduling and Planning for customer orders and stock requirements. You can manage the Production follow using Dispatch reporting and track the progress of work orders through manufacturing based on defined routings.

Material Requirements Planning (MRP) can help manage your manufacturing process. Its goal is to help you meet these 3 Objectives: Ensure that materials and products are available for production and delivery to customers, maintain the lowest possible level of inventory and plan manufacturing activities such as scheduling and purchasing.
